WeChat rehab helped COPD self-efficacy
Open access · cc by · source: Europe PMC
A Chinese RCT used WeChat-supported personalized remote pulmonary rehab (PeR) to improve COPD patients’ self-efficacy, quality of life, and symptoms.
Key findings
PeR improved self-efficacy and quality of life and eased symptoms; health improvement was 2.24× higher with high vs low Ex-SRES; dropout was 11.3%.
Methodology
In a 6-month RCT (3 months rehab + 3 months observation), COPD patients were randomized 1:1 to WeChat-based PeR versus face-to-face comparison care, tracking CAT, Ex-SRES, and symptoms.
Limitations
Whether CAT score alone differed by arm (method/time NS on CAT), or long-term exacerbation/hospitalization reductions.
