CDK2 anchors an immune/ceRNA prognosis model in LUAD

Liu TT, Li R, Huo C, et al. · Frontiers in cell and developmental biology · 2021

Open access · cc by · source: Europe PMC

Across GEO/TCGA analyses, CDK2 is upregulated with strong LUAD survival association and is embedded in immune, Nomogram, ceRNA, and drug-IC50 networks.

Key findings

CDK2 had highly significant LUAD prognostic value (P=5.8e-15) and higher tumor vs normal expression. Pan-cancer analyses showed stage/survival links. Immune modulator genes and a ceRNA network (lncRNAs–miRNAs–CDK2) were constructed; CDK2 associated with IC50 of 89 antitumor drugs.

Methodology

Liu et al. found 250 overlapping DEGs (P<0.01, |logFC|>2), prioritized CDK2, then used UALCAN/Oncomine/TIMER and R survival tools for pan-cancer/LUAD expression and prognosis, built Nomogram and Cox immune forecast models, assembled a ceRNA network, and correlated CDK2 with GDSC drug IC50s.

Limitations

Purely observational public-data associations—no wet-lab causal validation. Nomogram clinical deployment needs prospective calibration.
