Ten-gram grinding makes lanthanum coordination polymers
Open access · cc by · source: Europe PMC
Manual grinding of LaCl3 with 5-sulfosalicylate and 8-hydroxyquinoline yields ternary CPs whose IR/XPS/MS match a chelated nanocomposite.
Key findings
ESI-MS 912.6347 g mol–1; COO IR bands shift on La chelation; XPS shows N–La and O–S; BET 5.58 m2 g–1 mesopores. Solution-phase LCP-3 has different UV/IR, proving method-dependent nanostructures.
Methodology
Authors ground 5-SSA, 8-hq and LaCl3·7H2O for 1 h at 25 °C, compared a solution-phase analogue, and characterized products by NMR, ESI-MS, XPS, XRD, BET and TG.
Limitations
No single-crystal structure of LCP-1; antibacterial/antitumor assays are cellular screens, not a molecular MIC mechanism.
