What they did

Mapped necrotic Uk-1×Uk-3 hybrids, introgressed DM1/DM2, and linked the phenotype to NB-LRR immune gene mismatch.

What they found

DM1 (Chr5, Uk-3) and DM2 (Chr3, Uk-1) are necessary and sufficient; phenotype fully penetrant at 16°C and suppressed at 23°C.

The limits

What it doesn't show

Does not prove every plant hybrid incompatibility is autoimmune.
