Authors measured nine urinary phthalate metabolites, thyroid hormones (including T4 and TBG), and fasting lipids in 222 adults, then used regression and mediation analysis (plus BKMR mixtures) to test whether thyroid function links phthalates to lipids.

MMP associated with lower LDL-C; MEP with lower total cholesterol; ΣDEHP metabolites with higher HDL-C. T4 was estimated to mediate 32.2% of the ΣDEHPm–HDL-C link, but that indirect effect was not statistically significant.
