Event-Related Potentials (ERPs) are measured electrophysiological brain responses that occur in direct reaction to a specific sensory, cognitive, or motor stimulus. Extracted from electroencephalography (EEG) recordings by averaging the brain's electrical activity over many trials, they provide researchers with a millisecond-by-millisecond timeline of cognitive processing.
