Inhibitory Control

Inhibitory control is the cognitive ability to voluntarily suppress automatic, prepotent, or habitual responses, thoughts, or behaviors to execute a more goal-appropriate action. It represents a foundational component of executive functioning, allowing individuals to ignore distractions, resist impulsive urges, and adapt to changing environments.
