Heat-shocked Atlantic cod, measured plasma cortisol, built SSH libraries from liver/head kidney/muscle, and validated candidates by QPCR.

Cortisol rose sharply after heat shock (e.g., ~132–165 ng/ml peaks) while controls stayed basal; many chaperone/stress transcripts were confirmed heat-responsive.
