Cross-Sectional Design
A cross-sectional design is a research method where data is collected from different groups of participants (such as different age brackets) at a single point in time. Rather than following the same individuals as they grow older, this design provides a snapshot comparison across cohorts.
Psychologists value cross-sectional designs because they are cost-effective, quick to execute, and avoid the high participant drop-out rates common in longitudinal studies. They are widely used to identify developmental milestones and detect correlations before committing resources to long-term investigations.
