Theory of Mind
Theory of Mind refers to the cognitive ability to attribute mental states—such as beliefs, desires, intentions, and emotions—to oneself and others. This capability allows individuals to understand that other people have beliefs, desires, and perspectives that differ from their own. In plain terms, it is the 'mind-reading' capacity we use daily to predict and make sense of other people's actions.
Psychologists care about Theory of Mind because it is the foundation of successful social interaction, communication, and relationship-building.
